Project Description

Looking at how we can create a circular economy for fashion. Using AI to identify particular textiles in waste streams.

#circular economy

Data Story

There are two parts to the data story. The first is the analysis of the textile industry in Australia data, showing the large amount of waste and non-recycled waste being created every year. This analysis then lead me to build a small app in Azure Cognitive services to prototype image analysis of textiles to allow for identification of different types of textile/ fashion waste. The image analysis tool was able to successfully differentiate between wool and non-wool textiles. This AI could then be deployed in small or large scale environments, leading to an increase ability to find new markets for these recycled goods.
