Data Story

• Data.world - Tourism Datasets: This source provides comprehensive datasets on tourism trends, visitor statistics, and economic impacts.

https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/industry/tourism-and-transport: It was instrumental in developing predictive models for forecasting tourist inflows and identifying trends specific to the Northern Territory. The data from this platform helped in understanding historical tourism patterns and anticipating future visitor numbers.

• Northern Territory Official Tourism Website: We used this site to link relevant information on adventure tours, cultural events, festivals, road trips, and other tourism-related data. This resource was crucial for integrating real-time tourism offerings and events into our application, enhancing user engagement by providing up-to-date and relevant content for tourists planning their visit.

• Territory Stories: This platform was utilized to connect with historical and cultural maps of the Northern Territory. We proposed the use of QR codes to provide educational content and interactive experiences for tourists. This source helped in integrating rich, local stories and historical context into the application, thereby enriching the tourist experience and promoting cultural education.

• Tourism NT - Latest Visitor Data: This site offered the latest visitor data and research insights, which were essential for identifying current challenges and justifying the features developed in our proposed app. By analyzing recent visitor trends and issues, we were able to tailor the app's functionalities to address specific needs and enhance the overall tourist experience in the Northern Territory.

• Crocodile Monitoring Survey Data: This provides invaluable insights into crocodile sightings and activity across various regions. By analyzing this dataset, we identified high-risk areas where crocodile encounters are more frequent. This analysis allowed us to prioritize safety features within our app, ensuring that tourists receive real-time alerts and guidance for areas with higher crocodile activity. By understanding these trends, we can offer proactive safety measures and relevant information to enhance the overall visitor experience.

• Crocodile Capture and Management Areas: This page details ongoing crocodile management activities and the areas currently under surveillance. This resource is crucial for understanding where active crocodile management is taking place and where additional caution is required. By integrating this information, our app provides up-to-date alerts and notifications about recent crocodile management efforts, helping tourists stay informed and safe. This ensures that our app not only guides users to avoid recent management areas but also educates them about best practices for crocodile safety.
