Project Description

A case for a new space tourism industry to be based in Jabiru.

Data Story

A large portion of the population in Jabiru works at the nearby Ranger mine. (ABS data). When the mine closes, these people will likely move. Vacancy = opportunity for a new industry. Based on forward projections from the CSIRO and Australian Government, the space industry is set to boom. Given Jabiru's proximity to the recently announced Nhulunbuy spaceport, it can benefit from the emerging space sector.
