Project Description

Choose2Refuse: the app that will let users monitor their use of single use plastics helping tell the story of the impac Plastic Free July has on the world

Data Story

An idea developed from a fresh look and analysis of Ipsos reports about Plastic Free July and World Environment Day
There's so much potential growth for Plastic Free July by looking at existing participation based on % of population. We predict that Plastic Free July could achieve significant growth if every country reached the same level of registration as Australia with the same level of participation of the country with the highest rate. Which country was that? Hint: it was NOT Australia, it was a country that didn't host a single event for Plastic Free July in 2019!
Watch our video have to find out which country.

🌟 Creating a clean city

Our residents and businesses produce, consume, and dispose of waste every day. Many residents are unaware of what happens to their waste once it enters a bin or simply don't care. How might we use data to empower and educate our community about their waste?

Eligibility: Use atleast 1 City of Ballarat waste dataset from data.gov.au

Helping a social impact ‘start up’ (small organisation) to tell their story

Small and informal community/interest groups who have formed to solve local problems need data to know if their activities are making a difference and to re-design programs. How can we help these groups tell their story through data so they can seek support (political, financial, and on the ground) by showing how their programs are working, and decide where to focus next?

Eligibility: Use any open dataset to support your entry.
