Project Description

We integrate Virtual Reality (VR) and emerging technologies to build Smart Fremantle and provide immersive heritage interpretation experience.

Background

The City of Fremantle is known for its unique heritage. As one of the most visited destinations in WA, Fremantle is constantly seeking new and innovative ways to make this information available to visitors.

Government, libraries, research institutes and local companies have developed massive creative strategies to display heritage, culture, art, history, buildings and attractive events.

VR Immersive and Interactive Heritage Interpretation System

We are “Next Era Tech”.

We integrate Virtual Reality (VR) and emerging technologies to build Smart Fremantle and provide immersive and interactive heritage interpretation experience.

Virtual environments of heritage in Fremantle are created with the integration of VR and emerging technologies, such as 3D laser scanning cloud points, big data, building information modelling, smart city, internet of things and artificial intelligence.

All information related to built heritage, culture and art, Indigenous cultural heritage, colonial heritage and notable historic people can be updated in the VR Fremantle system. In the VR environment, users can find important notes, search any research, library, heritage and townsite websites, and use the interactive location based information display system.

Highlights and Contributions

The VR Fremantle system can bring users great immersive and interactive heritage interpretation experience.

It has broad prospects in
- attracting more travellers across the world,
- promoting histories and culture,
- protecting and interpreting local heritage,
- encouraging participation of youth in broader local communities,
- and improving small business and economic development.

Helping a social impact ‘start up’ (small organisation) to tell their story

Small and informal community/interest groups who have formed to solve local problems need data to know if their activities are making a difference and to re-design programs. How can we help these groups tell their story through data so they can seek support (political, financial, and on the ground) by showing how their programs are working, and decide where to focus next?
